I firmly believe that by working together as a community we can achieve our scientific and conservation goals more efficiently.

Current institution and/or position: Associate Professor, Colorado State University
Scientific research goals and achievements: My research goal is to bring as many people together as possible to advance our understanding of avian conservation using genomic tools. For the last decade I have been working closely with friends and colleagues within and outside of the AOS to build the Bird Genoscape Project. We hope the data from the project will be a resource for anyone attempting to tackle avian conservation challenges.
Fun fact: I love to paint! Slowing down to paint gives me the chance to see things in a new way. I also find the process of painting a lot like the process of science where the best discoveries arise from what can, at first, seem like the biggest mistakes.
Why have you chosen to be a member of the AOS?
I choose to be a member of the AOS because it provides me with a platform for connecting with other other passionate avian scientists. I firmly believe that by working together as a community we can achieve our scientific and conservation goals more efficiently.
