Prashant Ghimire | Faces of AOS

Through the AOS, I not only receive diverse opportunities but also learn about many aspects and issues in ornithology all over the world.

Prashant Ghimire

Current institution and/or position: Ph.D. Candidate, Kent State University

Scientific research goals and achievements: My broad research goal is to understand the ecology and evolution of birds to aid their conservation. In the last seven years, I have studied the ecology of birds and worked with grassroots communities in Nepal to conserve threatened birds and their habitat. Currently at the Omics Lab, Kent State University, I am studying molecular processes associated with high-altitude adaptation.

Fun fact: When not doing bioinformatics these days, I love to go outdoor for hiking, birding, and camping. I also love outdoor sports such as soccer and cricket. I watch English Premier League and huge supporter of Arsenal Football Club.

Why have you chosen to be a member of the AOS?
When I was in Nepal in 2018, I decided to join the AOS to connect with diverse scientists working on birds. Through the AOS, I not only receive diverse opportunities but also learn about many aspects and issues in ornithology all over the world. The AOS is a platform that brings all of us together, and I love being part of it.
