YES. The species was photographed late last summer of La Paz, Baha California by Howell and others. I suppose these photos will be published in the next issue of NAB.

YES. The distribution paragraph should not mention the subspecies. We should not be encouraging the identification to subspecies form photographs.
YES. I see no problem with identifying to subspecies, or subspecies group, assuming the differences are clearly diagnosable from the photos. In some cases it’s easier to tell subspecies apart then between species pairs. Howell and Webb (1995) make the difference in telling this West Mexican subspecies from all others to be straight-forward. Perhaps that can be confirmed.

YES. I assume this is the nominate race, but perhaps the eastern Cuban race, if recognized is too similar. Perhaps skins can be checked.

YES. Generally speaking, the acceptance of a new report does NOT validate earlier reports that have not been accepted. However, in this instance, where the doubt of the earlier one was not of identity but of the possibility of ship assistance, we can probably accept the old one, as the new one supports vagrancy in the species. Rumors of other sightings, or even reports of other sightings, have no bearing on the validity of the CA record.
YES, and accept the earlier Texas record too.

YES. I’m not sure what the status of this species in eastern China is. There are certainly none for southeast China.
