We will host an in-person community open forum at the 144th annual meeting of the American Ornithological Society (AOS) in Amherst, Mass. AOS 2026 attendees are invited to attend this event.

In the face of challenges and uncertainties around funding, employment, academic freedoms, civil liberties, social values, conservation efforts, and more, building community is more important than ever. Given the success of a similar community-building event last year, we invite you all to gather once more for a community discussion and support session.

AOS representatives will share Society responses to U.S. federal policy changes so far. In small groups, participants will share strategies that have helped them navigate these times as well as brainstorm and provide feedback for how the AOS and other institutions can better support the community.
