SUMMARY:How are the AOS and the AOS community thinking about AI?
DESCRIPTION:AOS Member Forum\n  \n \n  \nLeaders: \nMorgan Tingley\, AOS President\nJudith Scarl\, AOS CEO/Executive Director\nAOS Professional Ethics Committee \n  \nDiscussion of recently adopted AI Policy that guides AOS staff\, operations and committees and opportunities for community feedback. At the 2026 AOS annual meeting in Amherst\, Massachusetts\, the AOS Council adopted a policy regarding AI use by staff and committees to guide operations and activities. The objectives of this virtual forum are two-fold: 1) Inform AOS members about the recently adopted policy\, and 2) Listen to the AOS community regarding your ideas on AI. We want to hear from you on what AOS should be thinking about when considering the ethical and appropriate use of AI both in how the society operates and how AOS members use AI in their ornithological work. Are there issues that AOS should be researching? Are there AI-related topics we should be doing outreach on? We want to hear from you! We anticipate this forum will provide key insights to development of a community-wide survey in the next months and at subsequent forums. \n  \nThis forum is free and available to all current AOS members as a membership benefit. \nThe registration link will send you to the AOS member portal to access the Zoom link to register. Please login to the AOS member portal with your AOS member login credentials. If you are not a current AOS member\, you will be prompted to renew your membership to access this professional development opportunity. \n  \n  \n
